The Story Behind Baby Bug Away
Well, hello! If you found me here, you must have discovered Baby Bug Away somewhere during your stay on Martha’s Vineyard! Thanks for using the QR Code and taking a moment to learn more about this product and the story behind it.
Baby Bug Away started four years ago with a family barbecue and four kids under the age of four. Knowing mosquitoes would be joining the party, I pulled out an all-natural formula I had been working on. I wanted an alternative to traditional bug sprays because I simply didn’t like their smell, feel, or the idea of putting harsh ingredients on our little ones’ skin.
I bottled my formula, slapped on a few handwritten labels, and placed the bottles on the tables. Then an old friend arrived with her very pregnant daughter-in-law. She tried it, loved the smell, and practically begged me to make 20 bottles as favors for her baby shower. I finally agreed, created a custom label for the occasion, and Kali Amor helped inspire what would eventually become Baby Bug Away.
When I posted about the shower and thanked my friend for getting me “back in the lab,” the response was immediate. I quickly discovered that parents weren’t the only ones concerned about what they put on their children’s skin—people cared about what they were putting on their own skin, too.
That’s why Baby Bug Away was created with skin care in mind. The formula begins with organic witch hazel, traditionally used to cleanse, condition, and soothe the skin, along with organic sweet almond oil for additional conditioning. A fragrant blend of lemongrass, lemon, basil, clove, and oregano essential oils completes the formula.
